Optional Activities for Thursday:

TANGIER ISLAND PRIVATE CHARTER - It is post season for scheduled trips to Tangier Island, however, The Joyce Marie II is still available for ½ day private charters to Tangier Island on Thursday, Friday or Sunday.  The Joyce Marie departs from Onancock, 40 miles north of Cape Charles and the total cost of the chartered boat is $400.  The boat holds a maximum of 24 passengers plus the captain. Individual cost of the trip will depend on how many sign up.  It is approximately a one hour boat ride from Onancock to Tangier Island and typically the boat stays at the island for four hours before returning to Onancock.  Since it is a charter, the amount of time spent on the island and the departure time are both negotiable.  Please review the website www.tangierisland-va.com for further information.  Contact Katerina Kitzman Clifton (202) 460-2701 ASAP with questions or to sign up for the trip.

CHINCOTEAGUE NATIONAL WILDLIFE REFUGE - A 14,000 acre wildlife preserve located 66 miles north of Cape Charles and is an Eastern Shore must.  The refuge contains a large variety of wildlife animals and birds as well as the famous Chincoteague Ponies.  The small Chincoteague Island is separated from Assateague Island by the Assateague Bay.  The ponies are wild and roam freely.  While the boat tours try earnestly to find the ponies, there can be no guarantee of a sighting.  Contact www.Chincoteagueisland.com for more information and history.  Daisey’s Island Cruises is reliable, informative and in June, on the tour, many ponies were seen.  For further information, go to www.Daiseyislandcruises.com, or call (757) 336-5556, to coordinate your visit. (Available Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.)

2-HOUR CAPE CHARLES SUNSET CRUISE (Thursday night only) – The Cape Charles Boat Tour Company offers a sunset cruise for 6 passengers and the cost is $250.  Depending on how many choose to go affects the per person price.  If 6 people sign up, the cost is $42 per person.  Keep in mind it is a sunset cruise, so it is anticipated that a 5:00 or 5:30 PM departure time is reasonable.  The definite departure time will be provided closer to the date.  This cruise needs to be booked as soon as possible, so please contact Katerina Kitzman Clifton, if interested.

EARLY BIRD SPECIAL - Dora is hosting Meze and drinks at her condo Thursday afternoon.  Please stop by for a fabulous view and a chance to catch up.  Exact time will depend on sunset and how many are going on the Sunset Cruise above.  Dora’s place is 117B Mason Avenue – just a block up from the Northhampton Hotel (HINT: look for the Greek flag on the balcony.)
